How To Find Houston Jobs
Looking for jobs in Houston can be challenging. On one hand, Houston's economy is doing better than that of many other large cities - but on the other hand, the jobless rate has gone up and competition is everywhere. It's time to get creative.
Befriend the Houston Chronicle. You should sit down with the Chronicle whenever you have a chance. Pull out the classified section first, and go over it with a red pen for potential jobs in your field. Then read through some of the local news and business stories - you may get some great job ideas from the articles.
Pick up the free classifieds. Free classifieds like Greensheet and Jobsworld often post job listings that don't appear in the Houston Chronicle. You will find these free sheets in almost every Houston-area grocery store, in the rack near the exit with all the other free local magazines.
Take up traveling. Bush IAH and Hobby airports have job openings regularly, and all kinds of supporting industries around the airports may have vacancies. Hotels, driving jobs, restaurants and shops in the airport, technical jobs, and security jobs thrive in the bustling Houston airports.
Go online. The web offers some great job search engines for the Houston area. Many of these sites allow you to search by industry, job type, and location. Some will even send you email alerts when a potential job is posted.
